Spring is dragging its warm, fragrant heels this year, but that shouldn’t prevent you from getting your share of seasonal foliage. Here are four pads surrounded by green stuff.
Asking price: $599,900
Sold for: $616,000
The draw: Well within walking distance of Edwards Gardens’ abundant florals and The Shops at Don Mills, this three-bedroom semi has a big, nicely landscaped backyard. Hardwood floors and a finished basement aren’t bad, either.
The catch: The home’s proximity to excellent schools would be another draw, except that it likely means a fierce bidding war is in store for potential buyers. The walls are a boring beige throughout.
6 Veery Pl.
Asking price: $399,900
Sold for: $399,900
The draw: At a spacious 1,010 square feet, this two-bedroom corner unit offers lots of sun exposure, as well as two bathrooms, a den, and new kitchen appliances. It’s also located across from Allan Gardens, where a greenhouse stores live plants, even in the colder months.
The catch: Painfully high maintenance fees ($820.37) are a common tradeoff when choosing an older condo over a shiny but tiny new one. The kitchen is narrow, and the bedrooms have broadloom carpeting.
117 Gerrard St. E., Unit 909
Asking price: $489,900
The draw: A rentable basement apartment is one positive feature of this four-bedroom detached house. So are the huge 43-by-110 foot lot, the renovated bathroom, and the short walk to the Rosetta McClain Gardens near Scarborough Bluffs.
The catch: Transit access is poor; TTC options are limited to the bus, and neither Danforth nor Scarborough GO stations are within walking distance. Two bedrooms are on the main floor, which isn’t great for privacy.
12 East Haven Dr.
Asking price: $599,000
Sold for: $676,000
The draw: This three-bedroom semi has a west-facing backyard with a nice deck, as well as hardwood floors on the main level, and in its nicely finished basement. Leafy James Gardens is an eight-minute drive away, along the Humber River.
The catch: Stone tiles have been laid at haphazard angles in the family room, and the kitchen could use a style update (and new appliances). The bedrooms are rather small—not even the master totals 100 square feet.
