Forward-facing, backward-facing, lie-down, bassinett, toddler, multiple heights, one-hand collapse, car-seat compatible. I absolutely would have spent $1000.00 on it if the alternative was nothing. But if I can get a marvel of engineering for $250.00, why wouldn't I? There may be a real case for the $1000.00 Bugaboo, but the author is not very convincing when he lists all of the normal features of strollers as if they were game changers. I believe it's only been allowed for about 35 years. I'm 39 and my Mum has told me she was not allowed to take me on the TTC. My parents had only one car which my Dad would drive to work unless my Mum had to go out that day, in which case he'd get up early and take the bus. Everything had to be planned. Clunky garbage strollers are the ones that are SUV strollers - not for their price (of course they're cheap), but for the space they take up anywhere they go. Regular price is around $650; definitely not a $1000 stroller. Also serious cyclists don't spend $1,000 on a bike; they spend 5,000+k (easily) on a bike. A few points to keep in mind -very young children may not be able to sit up on their own -an able-bodied parent has, at maximum, two arms at their disposal -but most of all, why are we blaming each other for the poor layout of TTC vehicles, or the fact that it does not run a truly sufficient fleet during rush hour? Do you know what I hate on the TTC? Enormous backpacks. But guess what, it's entirely likely that my daughter and/or her eventual friends, will be these self-same backpackers. I also hate people that stand in, and block entrance ways. We all have our complaints. Having taken my daughter, with stroller, on one or two streetcar rides, I can assure you that many (most?) parents are mortified by the experience, and the attendant stairs and glares. It isn't always taken by choice - and for those of you suggesting that a parent thinks the world revolves around them, please check yourself for your own sense of inflated gravity.
