He chose Toronto for good reason, it is a true "foodie" city and he knows they will appreciate his offering. Give him some credit for an affection for Toronto. No-one knows Changs intentions or affinity to Toronto other than he's stoked to open 3 restaurants. Assuming that the guy doesn't have a pure connection to the city is presumptuous and to be honest, just reinforces the notion of Toronto's inferiority complex. But I get it. There's a lot of Momo fanboys out there that ride Chang's dick like a mechanical bull and they're as annoying as most fanboys are. But I don't think restaurant owners should be threatened. They should be excited. Toronto is going through this food renaissance right now and having name sakes like Boulud and Chang alongside local studs is only going to make the game better. As a side note, I know we all like to give Chang credit for this changing of the guard, but you know who really deserves the credit for that? Big Homey Tony Bourdain.
