What happens when two Toronto chefs collaborate on a secret dinner starring the sturgeon?
Last night, in a fourth floor loft on Adelaide across from a Fire Hall, about 40 people attended a covert, sturgeon-themed dinner event called Muskoka Brewery’s Secret Kitchen.
Hosted by Ivy Knight and chef Matt Kantor, the evening’s six courses featured caviar and sturgeon by New Brunswick’s Acadian Sturgeon. Kantor collaborated on the meal with chef Nick Liu, who recently left Niagara Street Café to open Asian brasserie Gwai Lo. A series of Muskoka IPA and Cream Ale cocktails were mixed by Gwai Lo mixologist Kristina Kuypers and Campagnolo bar star Josh Lindley.
The hush-hush affair is part of a documentary series by Hell Creek Entertainment, who followed the chefs shopping for ingredients at the market earlier in the week, and kept the camera running throughout the dinner.
