Coming in through Vintages, there aren’t many bottles of The King’s Ginger in the province, and at this price, it won’t last long.
Not so long ago, bartenders in Toronto were looking to house-made ginger syrup and ginger beer to spice up their cocktails. As such, DIY was the prevailing ginger ethic.
Now, though, we’ve gone from a dearth of options to a plethora. Well, at least two: Domaine de Canton and The King’s Ginger. Price-wise, the latter is much more affordable. In addition, it packs a greater punch, since it’s not as sweet as Domaine and is higher in alcohol content. That said, Domaine de Canton is probably ever so slightly easier to work with for a lot of cocktails. So, let’s call The King’s something like “Ginger 2.0.”, even though it’s actually an older product (by about a century).
