We’d never seen this premium tequila on Toronto shelves. Until now.
When the first premium tequilas were introduced into the Ontario market some 10 years ago, the price was…how should we say…oh, yes, criminal. We here at Hoarders Corners were so scandalized at the price of a certain mass-produced, artisanally-packaged, heavily-marketed early arrival that we have never bought it since. We actually did everything we could to avoid buying that agave elixir locally, including annual trips to tequila-producing regions in Mexico.
On one such trip we were introduced to Los Azulejos Blanco, which seemed to be about the tastiest thing we’d ever tried but, sadly, we never came across it again. It almost became mythical—as though it was the product of an agave hallucination.
So imagine our surprise to see this very tequila sitting on the shelf at the Summerhill LCBO’s Vintages. Sure, it’s not exactly cheap, but if we think of the price of those first premium tequilas (up in the $80 – $100 range), it’s actually a bargain. Since we’ve never seen it before and quantities are already dwindling, we’d advise wasting no time picking up a bottle. Or two.
Los Azulejos Blanco Tequila, Vintages 296954. $67.95.
