This smooth and mature bourbon is in dangerously low supply around the city. You might want to buy two—while you still can.
At last count, there were fewer than 100 bottles of Knob Creek Single Barrel Bourbon in the GTA, which, in triage terms, is pretty close to an emergency situation. Especially since this 120-proof bourbon will change your mind about what Knob Creek is all about.
The Single Barrel Bourbon both packs a serious punch and, when opened up with a little water, demonstrates itself to be a smooth and mature caramel and toffee treat. The nine-year-old would also work extraordinarily well in a carefully crafted Old Fashioned cocktail, since the lingering orange overtones of the bourbon will meld very nicely with the orange of the cocktail. And at $55, it’s a pretty decent alcohol per dollar value. Maybe pick up two—while you still can.
2 oz bourbon + 1/4 oz 2-1 simple syrup (two parts sugar, one part water) + 2 dashes Angostura Bitters + Orange Peel
In a rocks glass, gently muddle orange peel with bitters and simple syrup. Add bourbon, stir, add a few large ice cubes and stir again. Serve.
