It’s not exactly a new product, but Hornitos tequila, with its limited time five-dollar discount to $34.95, is priced at the best dollar-per-agave-ounce-ratio in Ontario over the past 10 or so years.
We’ve never experienced much in the way of January sales at the LCBO, so we suspect that the generous discounts (on Hornitos and a number of other good brands) has been triggered by the Auditor General’s report that the corporation’s bizarre buying policy not only fails to pass on the savings to the consumer, but may also lead to a smaller profit margin, as the Toronto Star reports.
Whatever. For the next month, we’ll be stocking up on a few discounted products, including Hornitos, which was already a decent value when it was $39.95. Although not a totally refined sipper, Hornitos has earthy integrity and will add depth and flavour to cocktails.
