We’re not used to posting much about vodka on these pages, but thought it might be time to point to one that’s relatively pricey, but also fairly good, and out there for a limited time—namely, Double Cross.
Over the past year or so, the LCBO has brought in a few premium vodkas—all suitable for straight sipping. Before then, we usually scoffed at the notion of spending more than a few sheckles on a tasteless, odourless, and colourless alcohol. Truth is, though, there are times when it’s kind of a nice change of pace to drink something really light. And, when doing so, it can also be nice to have something like the Slovakian Double Cross, which manages to be smooth yet have a bit of a spicy bite.
Is it worth $59.95? There’s likely to be some difference of opinion on that front—since there are probably slightly smoother ones for a little more money and certainly pretty decent options that cost less—but, for vodka-philes, it’s certainly worth a try. And, as always is the case with seasonal products at the LCBO, it’s here for a good time, not a long time.
