Picking up this phenomenal scotch will officially be the best thing you’ve done all year.
Despite the dreary weather, early January is arguably the very best time of the year, thanks to a certain synchronicity: We’ve all resolved to drink better in the New Year and a good many of us have those nifty little LCBO gift cards burning a hole in our pockets. The big decision, then, is what to purchase.
We would be remiss not to point our readers towards Bowmore 18—and the roughly 30 bottles of it kicking around Toronto (with five or six times that many in outlying areas). The reason for the local shortage? We presume it’s because we city folk have our collective eye on the ball and can spot a great scotch-per-dollar ratio. At $126.95, it seems pricey, but if you like the smoky, peaty Islays, you have to try this one. Unlike some of the slickly-marketed smoke bombs out there, this one follows through with a phenomenally rich, nearly tropical body. And compared to a lot of other 18-year-old scotches, it’s actually quite a bargain.
Once you apply your gift card to part of the purchase, it’ll officially be the best thing you’ve done all year.
Bowmore 18-Year-Old Islay Single Malt, LCBO 250399. $126.95.
