Grant Soto dinner cancelled

A Night of Gravitas, the charity dinner hosted by Chef Grant Soto (a.k.a. the Twitter-based alias of screenwriter Taylor Clarke) with participating chefs from Campagnolo, Porchetta & Co., Hopgood’s Foodliner, and Parts & Labour, has been cancelled.

The dinner was supposed to take place on Captain John’s floating restaurant on July 25, but the ship was shut down by the City on June 26. (Owner Captain John Letnik has been ordered to clear out the ship by July 27.)

An email from Clarke’s publicist said that they couldn’t find an alternate venue that matched the ship’s vibe and “everyone just decided to call it a day.”

Refunds will be given out to ticket holders by early next week. Proceeds from the event were to benefit Breakfast Clubs of Canada; donations can still be made through the organization’s website.
