Au revoir, Liberty Belle Bistro

Another Liberty-named establishment has closed in Liberty Village. A “for sale sign” has been put up at Liberty Belle Bistro and owner/chef Aidan Pascoe confirms that his restaurant has been shuttered for a few weeks now, citing personal health issues as a reason for the closure. But he says he is currently well, adding that it’s an “onward and upward” situation for him. Too bad—the place had great food and it would have benefitted from the bazillion condos going up in the neighbourhood.

A few steps away, Liberty Noodle is still closed but other Liberty-themed establishments like Liberty Bistro and the Liberty Village Market and Cafe remain open.

Too Bad:( the food was really good (albeit expensive). Sad to see a nice place go. Food choices before a TFC game are drying up all over. Too bad MLS charges so much for so little, with little choice at their games.

On what plane of existence would Liberty Belle Bistro be considered expensive? Steak frites was $26, and every other main on the menu was $20 or under. Despite the fact that Liberty Village is largely populated with people from Mississauga, it’s not Mississauga. Prices for good food are going to reflect that.

Word on the street in the neighbourhood is that Liberty Bistro is not far behind. I can’t seem to find anything online to confirm that, but I remember recently receiving an invite for their “closing” party.

Liberty Bistro closed Tuesday night. That’s three gone in 2 weeks. Too bad, if they could’ve held on another 18 months the population of Liberty Village would’ve doubled by then. Then again, what LV really needs is something like Cafe Utopia. Great food, reasonably priced. Liberty Bistro and Liberty Belle were both overpriced. People think there’s a ton of disposable money in these condos but forget that a condo is the ENTRY point to home ownership now and even a small one costs more than a detached did in the beaches 12 years ago.

Hardly a wasteland. There’s about 50 restos in LV! Even with these gone and a bunch more opening.

Great restaurant, went 5 times. I was really looking forward to there brunch one day but never got the chance. It’s such a shame to lose such a great rest.

such a terrible location for the simple reason that I was wanting to try this bistro out, but kept on forgetting about it. It looks so charming inside too. Oh well.
