■ The newly-opened Gravitypope store (1010 Queen St. W., 647-748-5155) is holding a pre-Christmas sale. Until Dec. 2, receive 15 per cent off the shop’s array of regular-priced designer footwear, clothing, and accessories (excluding select brands) or 20 to 50 per cent off select Fall 2012 goods until Christmas Eve.
■ Fans of Roots (and discounts) will enjoy the quintessentially Canadian retailer’s holiday sample sale. Merchandise includes leather jackets, bags, men’s, women’s, and baby fashions, and bedding from the brand’s line of lifestyle items. The sale runs from Nov. 29–30 (9:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.), Dec. 1 (8 a.m.–4 p.m.), to Dec. 2 (9 a.m.–4 p.m.). Bring a non-perishable food item for the Daily Bread Food Bank to the Castlefield Design Centre (1400 Castlefield Ave., 2nd floor). Cash only.
■ Artist and textile designer Virginia Johnson is holding her semi-annual sample sale this weekend. Peruse a selection of her inventive clothing, accessories, and bedding collections at her shop at 970 College St. (west of Dovercourt Rd.). The promotion runs from Saturday (Dec. 1, 11 a.m–7 p.m.) to Sunday (Dec. 2, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.).
OPENINGS
■ Menswear emporium Gotstyle Distillery will hold a soft opening today (Nov. 30) for its second, 6,000 sq.-ft. location at 21 Trinity St. (formerly 55 Mill St., Building 21, 416-260-9696) in the Distillery District. The new spot features a made-to-measure tailor, a barbershop, and an 1800s–era “Groom Room”—a parlour-style environment complete with pool table, snacks, and sports TV.
■ Affordable Canadian fashion brand MOON’s retail outpost is now open (110 Bloor St. W.). Until Jan. 14 of next year, clients will be able to get a hands-on MOON shopping experience that is normally only available online (moonapparel.ca). The 1,800 sq.- ft. gallery-style boutique features the brand’s colourful Fall/Winter 2012 and Holiday collections designed by Jordin and Tamara Mimran, and accessories from established designers, all priced under $119. From Dec. 13 to 17, the shop hosts a holiday dress event, with 30 per cent off all dresses.

■ Head to Maker’s Cartel at Creatures:Collective gallery and studio space (822 Dundas St. W., west of Bathurst) on Dec. 1 (11 a.m.–8 p.m.) and Dec. 2 (11 a.m.–6 p.m.) for a pop-up craft market centered on promoting local, fledgling artisans. Snacks and Mexican coffee provided by Maizal Quesadilla Cafe.
■ Meet sister act Danielle and Jodie Snyder at a trunk show for Dannijo’s bohemian fashion jewellery at Holt Renfrew’s flagship store (50 Bloor St. W., 416-922-2333) on Dec. 1 (1 p.m.–4 p.m.).
