■ Home decor shop CB2 will open Saturday, Jan. 21 in the former Big Bop building, at the corner of Queen and Bathurst (649 Queen St. W., 416-366-2828. #QNW). The store specializes in condo-sized furnishings and accessories. Until Feb. 29, shoppers will have the chance to win $10 off any purchase of $50 or more or a daily $500 gift-card prize.
SALES
■ Find deals on items like Penfield toques, Filson bags, denim from Cheap Monday and a Pendleton blanket at The Drake General Store’s winter sale. All three locations (1144 Queen St. W. #WQW, 1011 Yonge St. #ROS and 82A Bathurst St. #KGW) have marked down clothing and accessories from their range of brands by 30 to 50 per cent until Jan. 30.
■ After its third markdown, The Room at The Bay (176 Yonge St., 416-861-4491. #DTN) is now offering an extra 40 per cent off fall/winter designer clothing, shoes and accessories, which have already been reduced by 60 per cent. That means the coveted Comme des Garçons flats, originally $965, could now be the cost of a pair of shoes from Aldo.
■ Rummage through racks and bins at the Preloved sample and warehouse sale (881 Queen St. W., 416-504-8704. #WQW). From Jan. 25 to 28 all current apparel, overstock, samples and homewares are discounted by between $10 and $70. The store will close for a four-day reno after the sale.
■ Toronto’s poshest bridal boutique, White (19 Hazelton Ave., 416-849-9196. #YRV), is holding a two-day sample sale on Jan. 20 and 21, with discounts of up to 70 per cent off its A-list designer gowns from Monique Lhuiller, Marchesa, Reem Acra, Oscar de La Renta, Carolina Herrera, Rivini and Jenny Packham.
■ Charitable bridal retailer Windfall is also holding a blowout sale at the organization’s outlet (29 Connell Crt. #ETO) on Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cocktail dresses start at $25 and wedding gowns at $100. Brides can book an appointment to shop the sale early on Jan. 24 and 25 by calling 416-459-9463.
EVENTS
■ Holt Renfrew celebrates Chinese New Year with a week of festivities beginning Jan. 23. On Jan. 28, shoppers at the flagship store (50 Bloor St. W., 416-922-2333. #YRV) will see a traditional Lion Dance in the building and have a chance to win $500 to spend on Links of London jewellery or one of John Hardy’s Naga bracelets.
