■ Brides, mark your calendars for Canada’s Bridal Show, Jan. 6–8 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (255 Front St. W., 905-264-7000 #ENT). This wedding extravaganza features 350 vendors, as well as fashion shows, door prizes, giveaways and plenty of ideas for impending nuptials. Tickets are $15 at the door.
■ The Canadian Alliance of Film and Television Costume Arts and Design is launching a speaker series with an evening lecture by award-winning costume designer Julie Weiss at the TIFF Bell Lightbox on Jan. 14 (8 p.m., 350 King St. W., 877-900-0955 #KGW). The two-time Oscar nominee has designed for over 50 features, including The Time Traveler’s Wife, American Beauty and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Tickets are $40.
JUST LAUNCHED
■ Toronto’s second M0851 store opened two days before Christmas in the former Walter Steiger shoe store space (38 Avenue Rd., 416-920-4001 #YRV). The boutique carries the Montreal brand’s minimalist bags, polished leathers and outerwear for men and women. Currently, its fall and winter merchandise is up to 50 per cent off.
■ Expect to find some pedigree names in designer accessories at vintage shop Magwood (1418 Dundas St. W., 416-818-3975 #DNW) after Jan. 14. Owner Sarah Magwood has scored a number of excellent pieces from the private collection of a Toronto matron, including a Cartier shoulder bag, a Bottega Veneta purse, a leather Fendi bag and a selection of furs. Prices are expected to range from $125 to $350.

■ Yorkville boutique UPC (128 ½ Cumberland St., 416-929-9209 #YRV) will be closing its doors in late January or February. The majority of the store’s stock is marked down between 50 and 75 per cent.
