Are you fucking kidding me? Fine, I’ll grant that maybe they could pass a grade 12 English course. But there comes a time when ‘intelligence’ means more than mere (relatively low-level) academic ability.

As adults, it comes to mean having a reasonably sophisticated worldview–which includes a system of values self-coherent enough to be defended for some time in a higher-level discussion; being insightful about one’s self; having some basic working knowledge of how other people around you and in the wider world live; and so on. In short, it comes mean more the capacity (or perhaps just the /willingness/ to be thoughtful and reflective.

These bitches are none of that. They’re narcissists who simply manipulate the rules of social media to advance their own, and solely their own, interests.

Now, I actually don’t care about that. But I do care when we start saying their not dumb. They’re fucking dumb as shit.

One more thing: speaking well as opposed to like an idiot–even if how we speak as ‘fundamental’ as you suggest (is it? really? I doubt it) matters greatly. Sure, you’re not saying it doesn’t. But you are saying one can’t expect that another change it.

I disagree. Going on 10 years in academia has exposed me to enough asswipes that speak like there are marbles in their mouths. They can simplify just as much as the valley girl can sophisticate.
