For the fancy-pants ambiance
18 St. Thomas Avenue
As cosmopolitan as Toronto may be, it offers few upscale all-veggie dining options. In fact, ever since Fressen discontinued its much-missed brunch last summer, woe betide the hapless vegan in search of a classy daytime meal. Then, a few months back, the Windsor Arms Hotel tasked consulting executive chef Doug McNish with developing vegan alternatives to complement the card at its Prime Steakhouse—including a full brunch menu, which they serve every Sunday. Although the prices are a bit steep—entrees are $18, and it’s an additional $5 for coffee!—the food is good, especially The Works, which includes tofu scramble, hearty black-bean chili and wilted greens.
