Notice one lyric "If the sky fell on you" is spookily coincidental with the movie Skyfall's recent release. Surely a coincidence? Bassey sang the Goldfinger theme, did she not? I had seen Skyfall at a North York theatre a couple days before luckily getting into The Mod Club for Harmony's live premiere on Nov. 20, was 50 feet from the stage. When Serena sang Fall it almost seemed I was watching a James Bond film intro. I would love to hear Serena channelling Janis Joplin. Your critique of Please Baby Please may be valid just when listening to a track tape but if you see Serena do this live you might not care about any perceived missteps. Lady can rock with drumsticks too. And who woulda known she could kill an ending with her guitar? Not me anyway. Wow. Canada and the music world generally is blessed to have this angel. She could sing the telephone book and make it sound amazing. It doesn't hurt that Serena Ryder is the total package, either. Very Merry Christmas to you, Serena. Way to go.
