I was a business man I don't walk deals in for free. Wes and the label did me dirty. I never got compensated for discovering Wes and getting him the deal which launched his career. For years I didn't hear from Wes or Farley . I'm wondering what they were thinking . That I just do shit for free. Even if the label did dirt. Wes should have reached out and made it right. Lots of. I have no idea how true this is, but I was told by someone who worked in the industry back then that he was basically paid off with a car of some sort, rather than with solid monetary compensation, and didn't benefit financially from his early success with Symphony. Can anyone confirm or deny? Also, just to pipe in re: first hearing Wes, I'm pretty sure I was at my friend's house in Windsor, ON watching Much when we first heard Maestro. Immediately fell in love with his style of hip-hop—and his dancers were seriously second to none; far better than what was happening in US hip-hop videos at the time. Symphony became a truly formative musical experience for me, and I saw Maestro live a couple times in Windsor as a result. I still share his videos with my US friends to this day. Thanks, Wes!
