Exactly one year after whetting our appetites with the fun and freaky debut EP for duo side-project Bad Tits (with Death From Above 1979’s Sebastien Grainger), former Tangiers frontman Josh Reichmann returns for more genre-bending weirdness on After Live.
It’s a single-handed effort in the spirit of his other eccentric incarnations, Jewish Legend and Josh Reichmann Oracle Band. Written and performed by Reichmann alone, After Live underlines the artist’s expectedly singular sound, with overlapping arrangements of sun-drenched pop, acid folk, experimental noise and trippy techno that manages to engulf and occasionally exhaust our ears.
The upshot is that After Live is an atmospheric wonder that should go down as one of the summer’s most rigourously inventive and downright mystifying records.
