Death From Above 1979: 7:10 p.m. While there’s no new music from DFA79, both Jesse F. Keeler and Sebastien Grainger contributed to pal Felix Cartal‘s new track “H.U.N.T.”
Silversun Pickups: 5 :40 p.m. Fact: Their first Toronto show was at NXNE on June 11, 2005 at Healey’s.
The Sheepdogs: 4:10 p.m. The Saskatchewan rockers will be premiering new single “The Way It Is”—off their forthcoming, Patrick Carney–produced LP—from the stage on Saturday. The band also plays Lollapollozza Aug. 5.
Young the Giant: 3 :10 p.m. After Edgefest, they head straight to a sold-out show in New York at the Central Park Summerstage on Monday. Their single “My Body” has further infiltrated pop culture through a Mountain Dew commercial.
Dirty Heads: 2:20 p.m. New LP Cabin by the Sea is out now.
USS: 1:30 p.m. In May, they played at the Music Matters Confrence in Singapore. The band also plays live at 102.1 the Edge’s Sugar Beach Studio Wednesday night (July 11) at 7:30 p.m.
Pack A.D.: 12:40 p.m. Check out the story of the band’s label, Mint Records, in the recently published book Mint at Twenty.
Yukon Blonde: 6:40 p.m. Their hit single, “Tiger Talk,” is featured on Blue Jays promos on Sportsnet. They’re also playing live at the Edge’s Sugar Beach Studio Thursday night (July 12) at 7:30 p.m., and at Wakestock Aug. 10 -12 in Collingwood.
Library Voices: 5 :55 p.m. The band is featured on Dine Alone Records’ Edgefest sampler. Along with pals Rah Rah, they will be the unofficial indie-rock hosts for next year’s Junos in their hometown of Regina.
Said the Whale: 5:20 p.m. The great video for new single “Loveless” completes the Little Mountain album video series. After Edgefest, they play Yellowknife July 21.
Hacienda: 4:45 p.m. The San Antonio, Texas band’s new LP, Shakedown, was produced by The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach.
Whale Tooth: 4:10 p.m. Their new eight-song release, Search Party, is out now.
The Apache Relay: 3:30 p.m. A Nashvile four-piece currently on tour with Young the Giant. After that, they’ll be joining pals Mumford and Sons on their U.S. Gentlemen of the Road tour.
Indian Handcrafts: 2:55 p.m. A powerhouse duo playing the opening-night party for the MADY Music festival July 19 in Barrie.
The Coppertone: 2:20 p.m. Excellent tweeter Amanda Zelina of @TheCoppertone had The Black Keys helping out at their merch table at a NXNE 2011 gig.
The Darcys: 1:45 p.m. The Toronto band is off to Austrailia in September. Check out their full-album cover of Steely Dan’s 1977 Grammy Award–winning LP Aja.
Balconies: 1:10 p.m. They head straight from Edgefest to Ottawa Bluesfest for gig on Sunday (July 15) at 4:30 p.m. with The Trews.
Acres of Lions: 12:35 p.m. Check out the Victoria band’s version of Japandroids’ “The House That Heaven Built” as part of the band’s Cover Song Tuesday program.
