Toronto’s perfect staycation weekend includes two glorious days of camping on the island and a hefty dose of experimental rock.
No day on the Toronto Islands would be complete without a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk, a quick dip in Lake Ontario, a picnic with friends and a hefty dose of mega-loud experimental rock.
To fulfill all of those fantasies at once, Artscape Gibraltar Point will host the fourth edition of the ALL CAPS! Island Festival, an all-ages weekend of independent music and visual arts. Presented by longtime Toronto music boosters Wavelength, the festival will feature Brooklyn noise-rockers A Place To Bury Strangers, Polaris-short-listed Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, and a lengthy list of other local and visiting artists.
Festival passes ($65 with overnight camping, $30 without) include access to both days of music and all of the weekend’s arts displays, while single-day tickets are available for $17. Or, for the same price, you could ride that random scrambler thing at Centreville a couple times. Your call.
Saturday, August 11 and Sunday, August 12. Artscape Gibraltar Point, Toronto Island. Festival pass $65 with overnight camping, $30 without, single-day tickets $17. All ages. Doors at 3 p.m.
