Perhaps it’s an inevitable response to Rob Ford’s 2012 budget, but it seems like local filmmakers are becoming ever more preoccupied with our city’s demise. Director Trevor Corrigan’s short film Late for the Party presents a post-apocalyptic scene akin to 28 Days Later by way of Honest Ed’s, as a lone woman wanders the eerily deserted streets of Toronto in broad daylight, searching for clues as to what happened to our city’s disappearing populace. We won’t divulge what happens, but let’s just say this girl is going to suffer from a major case of FOMO.

If you’re curious about how Corrigan made Toronto look so empty (presumably without the studio funding required to shut a city down), he has posted various making-of videos to his Vimeo page.
