Drawn To Develop is an annual evening of photography, hope and human connection featuring original artwork for silent auction created by acclaimed Canadian photographers—each piece is uniquely inspired by the drawings and stories of street-involved youth around the world who courageously strive to transform their lives despite the barriers they face living in poverty.
We’ll be posting one photo from this year’s exhibition every day leading up to Drawn To Develop 2011, happening Oct. 13 at the Fermenting Cellar in The Distillery District in benefit of Street Kids International. Advance tickets are $75 from drawntodevelop.com.
Today: photographer Tommy Matejka collaborates with Sudip, a 17-year-old from Nepal.
“I wanted Sudip’s drawing to also have a visual presence in my interpretation. My photo has elements of his current life and his possible future life.”—Tommy Matejka

“This is a picture of me in Kathmandu. It shows me collecting garbage which I do not like. Instead, I would like to go back to school.”—Sudip
