The current NBA lockout means we're missing the daily exploits of our favourite Toronto Raptors players. To fill the void, we took to Twitter to check in with DeMar DeRozan, Andrea Bargnani and more.
With the current NBA lockout threatening to cancel the entirety of the 2011-12 season, the city is missing some of its most high profile athletes.
Since all team officials are prohibited from contacting the players during the lockout, and the voicemail on the team’s media line hasn’t been updated since June 16th, there’s been a gaping hole not only in our appointment basketball watching, but in the local sports media’s coverage of the Toronto Raptors’ every move.
But thankfully, the players love social media, which means their off-court exploits are easy for curious fans to track down. We took to Twitter to find out how our favourite Raptors have been spending their unwanted time off.
1. DeMar DeRozan

The Raptors’ emerging young scorer is easiest to track down, because he’s obsessed with documenting nearly his every move on Twitter. Last week, he went on a tweeting spree about taking part in a game of flag football in Rowley Park, a grassy meadow not too far from his childhood home of Compton, California. A bunch of other bored NBA stars took part as well, including the LA Lakers’ Matt Barnes and the Milwaukee Bucks’ Brandon Jennings. DeRozan tweeted this photo from the game:

For more on DeMar’s daily routine, check out this interview he did with the National Post, where he jokes that his parents are close to handing him an eviction notice to get out of their house. Which is probably why DeMar dropped this hint that he’s making his way to the city soon to shoot hoops in as many gyms as humanly possible.
