Mayor’s niece quits the Lingerie Football League just one game into the season.
Just one game into the Lingerie Football League season, the Toronto Triumph have lost their highest-profile player.
Krista Ford, daughter of Doug and niece of mayor Rob, announced via Facebook that she is leaving the team. Krista posted the following statement:
“Hey everyone! I am really sad to let you all know that I have left the Toronto Triumph, along with many of my teammates. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make thus far, however, I had to stand up for what I felt was right. Unfortunately, it cost me the greatest sport in the world. “A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.” – Malcolm X
Thank you ALL so much for your end…less support. Each and everyone of you are my motivation to succeed in my future endeavors. Just because one door has closed, I assure you many more have been opened for all the ladies who stood up and let there [sic] voice be heard. I will continue to use my fanpage as I love you all very much!
K. XOXOXO”
Though we aren’t quite sure what she means by “standing up for what was right,” we can only assume her brief Lingerie Football League career took a physical toll on Krista, since, you know, the players aren’t allowed to wear much of anything at all. No word yet on who will replace her as both a defensive stalwart and unofficial brand ambassador.
And though her departure is no doubt cause for much shock and dismay among the league’s dozens of loyal fans, Krista leaves behind an enduring gridiron legacy in the form of this unintentionally hilarious training video:
