Yesterday afternoon in the Montgomery’s Inn tea room, Heritage Toronto launched its fourth iTour, a smartphone-ready audio and visual walking tour of Islington Village.
Heritage Toronto has proof that there’s plenty of history to be found in the city’s suburbs. Tuesday afternoon in the Montgomery’s Inn tea room, the agency—led by Executive Director Karen Carter, pictured below—launched its fourth iTour, an audio and visual walking tour of Islington Village. The tour touches on everything from the history of Mimico Creek to the Mabelle Park apartment complex.
Using technology to highlight local history, Heritage Toronto hopes to tune younger ears into the city’s past. Once they have a few more iTours available, they plan on developing a historically themed app for the entire city.
The iTours can be downloaded as a mobile app or viewed in full on the Heritage Toronto website.
