Snapshot: the Toronto Rocket, off the rails

We spotted these gleaming new Toronto Rocket cars being delivered to the TTC last week.

The TTC’s very expensive order of 234 Toronto Rocket cars (enough for 39 six-car trains) is slowly being filled by Bombardier, and the gallery of photos above proves a few more cars hit the rails very recently.

Last Thursday night, car-bound commuters fighting rush hour traffic at the intersection of Keele and Wilson were given a closeup look at their public transportation alternative, as a set of gleaming new Toronto Rocket cars were being delivered on giant flatbed trucks to the TTC’s Wilson Yard.

The wide load delivery halted traffic for a few minutes as the trucks made a slow left turn onto Wilson and headed for their destination.
