Radiohead show cancelled due to Downsview Park stage collapse

As just reported by CP24, the stage at Downsview Park has collapsed, resulting in the cancellation of this evening’s Radiohead/Caribou concert. One person was pronounced dead at the scene; three others have been sent to hospital. (Update, June 17, 2012, 2 p.m.: The Toronto Star has confirmed that the person killed in the collapse was Radiohead’s drum tech, Scott Johnson; the band’s drummer, Phil Selway, issued this statement in response.)

The concert’s promoters, LiveNation, have just issued this press release:

While we were worried about Nik Wallenda’s safety on a tightrope crossing Niagara Falls, we should concentrate on our own safety. The same way as Nik concentrated on his own safety before he even stepped out on the cable.

Just wonder if they had a person who’s only responsibility was safety on the work-site, and nothing else.
