Name: Lindsey Gazel.
Occupation: Head baker, pastry chef, and owner of Lindsey Bakes.
Age: 31.
Marital status: Single.
Ideal Toronto date: I’d have a pre-date espresso at Sam James to make sure I look alive. I’d grab take-out fish tacos from El Asador, he’d pick up some cans of 10W30 dark ale from the LCBO, and we’d meet at Christie Pits for a picnic. Christie Pits holds summer movie nights, so after the sun goes down we’d watch an old Western like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. I think I’d be happy with a guy who likes Westerns. After, we’d head to 416 Snackbar for oysters and wine. To end the night, we’d cycle over to the Black Dice on Dundas West for a quick game of pinball before heading home.
Talk to me about: Old Chevy Chase movies, Gucci Mane’s tattoos (I’ll never grow out of rap), typography, good bread, Swedish graphic designer Olle Eksell (I’ve loved his illustrations since I was two), and how to function on very little sleep.
My blow-your-socks-off dish: Chipotle chocolate-chunk cookies and heart-shaped bagels, an idea born from making people’s names out of bread, which I used to do once in a while for birthdays. Toasted with some cream cheese and strawberry jam, it’s the cutest thing ever.
Deal-breaker: When a guy closes his eyes to display intense emotion (like when he’s singing along to music), video games, and Australians—although that’s specific to one guy and some poor judgment on my part.
