Ideal Toronto date: My ideal Toronto date is pretty simple, and it would involve going to a farmers market—Wychwood Barns if it’s a Saturday, or Leslieville Market for a Sunday—and perusing what’s for sale with a coffee in hand. Quite often, markets have a coffee vendor on the grounds, so we would grab some there. Later, we would go to La Cascina at Avenue Road and Lawrence for something to eat—the food there is proper Italian. The plates are great for sharing and the menu is pretty open, so choosing what to eat is always a two-person collaboration. The menu is constantly changing but. for my ideal date, I would hope their homemade fettuccine with tomato sauce is available. It’s beyond simple, but one of the best dishes I’ve ever had.

My blow-your-socks-off dish: My spaghetti and meatballs. Instead of regular beef, or pork, I use wagyu beef. When I tried to get my current girlfriend to like me I tempted her with this meal quite often. She put up quite the fight though.
