Like many other large chain restaurants hoping to win the approval of kids obsessed with hashtags and street food, Jack Astor’s has commandeered a food truck and will literally show up at your door with free food if you tweet at them.
For the next nine days (it’s currently day three in their 12-day, new promotional campaign), the Jack Astor’s food truck will be roaming the city and stopping at locations requested by people who tweet at them with a #TweetToTaste hashtag. The free food being offered, as described on the side of the truck: “One really, really big meatball,” “Betta with fetta [sic] guacamole” (chips and guac), and “junk boat chicken” (chicken and rice). Follow the Jack Astor’s Twitter feed for upcoming locations, and see if they’ll stop at your office and make you a lunch-time hero. (Uh, thanks Meg from upstairs for sending the truck to 1 Yonge.)—Karon Liu
