Food Spy: Stampede Bison Grill closing Dec. 23

December usually marks the time when a batch of restaurants close and go out with a bang… or fade out silently with a fifth of whiskey. Among the places that have closed or will be closing before the end of the month: Bazaar: Global Food Bar (to be downgraded to a smaller location), Loic Gourmet, Fressen (to re-open as another concept), Half Baked Ideas bakery, and Cool Hand Luc (evicted, last day is tomorrow). To add to the list: Parkdale’s underrated burger and poutine shop Stampede Bison Grill (5 Brock Ave., at Queen W.) will be closing on Dec. 23.—Karon Liu

Does anyone care? Good food, but the 20+ minute wait in an environment that feels like a dystopian Subway and the fact that Stampede Bison Grill no longer offers a bison burger has me filing this one under “oh well.”
