It looks like La Revolucion—the Junction’s only Mexican restaurant up until now—is about to receive some healthy competition. This morning, Dave Sidhu confirmed that he is opening another restaurant at 2883 Dundas St. W., in what used to be Leno’s Steakhouse. According to Sidhu, Playa Cabana Cantina will have a very similar menu to the Dupont St. location, but being a cantina, it will focus more on “fresh cocktails.”
The new space is much bigger than the original, and will be divided up into three distinct areas. Sidhu said the front of the restaurant will pay homage to the neighbourhood with antique-heavy décor, followed by a tequila bar, and ending with a dining room at the back. The Cantina is slated to open at the end of November.
