In today’s Toronto Star, listed among the other new liquor licence applicants is Rose and Sons. It appears Chef Anthony Rose has found himself a home to serve his famous B.L.T. at 176 Dupont St. (at Davenport) in the old People’s Foods space. Later in the day, Rose posted a picture of the application itself on his website.
UPDATE: SEPT. 28, 3:30 p.m.: We managed to get a hold of Rose, who said he’s currently doing some work on the space: “peeling back layers, and updating.” He hopes the restaurant will be open by mid-November. The chef says he decided to take over the former People’s Foods restaurant because he “wanted something manageable that we could get up and running as soon as possible.” Expect the forthcoming restaurant to have a diner feel to it, and in terms of what he’ll be serving, Rose says it’s a bit too early to tell, though he’s currently playing around with some ideas, and that the crux of the menu will be “my type of food…classics with a twist.”
