It had to happen sooner or later: popular Bloor Street board-game café Snakes and Lattes has some competition. Opening at 1718 Queen St. W. (at Roncesvalles), Go Lounge is promising a new place to “go drink, go eat, and go play.” Co-owner, Samantha Lerner is a big fan of Snakes and Lattes, and saw that there was still a market for more of the same. (Indeed, the Koreatown hot spot had to expand into the space next door in order to make room for all of the gamers, and the place is still packed regularly.) Go Lounge will serve espresso-based drinks, baked goods, and sandwiches, but Lerner said that it will be more of a bar than a café. If all goes according to plan, the residents of Parkdale should be settling Catan by the second week of November.—Rebecca Fleming
