The Citytv building at the corner of Queen and John has become one of the most recognizable media bunkers in the city -- and what a headquarters it is. Housed inside the restored early-century building are the flagship stations Citytv, MuchMusic and Bravo! and other cable station studios. The main attractions to the Queen Street crowds are the street-level MuchMusic studios, from which squealing fans can get a glimpse of visiting stars, and Speaker's Corner, the 24-hour video soapbox that records Torontonians' deepest or dumbest thoughts for broadcast on a weekly TV show. Intimate and Interactive, the station's live interview and performance show that has featured such guests as Annie Lennox, Barenaked Ladies and Joni Mitchell, is shot in the street-level studio, drawing hordes of fans who spill out onto Queen Street. In the warmer months, the Citytv parking lot hosts film nights and the occasional concert, in addition to the MuchMusic Video Awards.
